Sioule et Patrimoine offers an audio-guided and signposted pedestrian route for an atypical discovery of the industrial, natural and human heritage around the Fades site.
At the Ancizes station and at the foot of the Viaduc des Fades, you will find dedicated signage and can download the Izi.Travel app for free, which will accompany you like an audio guide throughout the walk. She will introduce you to 26 remarkable points present on the route: from the creation of the line and the Viaduct to the Combrailles maquis, from the remarkable fauna to the history of the coal ovens, you will know everything about the epic of the valley!
The route is 10 km (one way) and takes 3 hours. Possibility of discovering the explanations without doing the complete hike, thanks to the panels installed at the station and at the foot of the Fades Viaduct.
For the more sporty, the course can be done round trip (20 km - 6h).
Unsuitable after heavy rains (fording the Viouze)
- You can come with two cars to position them at the beginning and at the end of the route (to avoid a round trip on foot) Provide waterproof shoes (wading). Course is mainly shaded, suitable in case of strong heat.
