Situated at 810 meters of altitude, the village homes an exceptional heritage. Moussages used to boast 6 castles but there is nothing left of them to the present day.
They were : Chateau de Valens (15th c.), destroyed by an irresponsible farmer in 1885, Chateau de Claviers, Grossalet and Valmaison, Algeres and finally Veysset. This mid altitude mountain village offers superb panoramic views over the Cantal volcano. One of the jewels of Romanesque art in the Haute Auvergne is a 12thc. wooden polychrome statue and its octogonal fountain which is listed. Moussages is a dynamic village, renowned for its open air film festival “Moussages fait son cinema”, which is a yearly event.
