Village of Arches

Village of 182 inhabitants, the very name Arches means “way through” and the village is actually built on the old route from the Auvergne to the Limousin. Arches displays a wealth of architectural heritage.

Partage :

The Neo Gothic church is from the 19thc., and its tower has survived to this day despite suffering several blows. However it was given a new lease of life when the adjacent church was built, with the dungeon tower going back to the 12th and 13thc.. It’s round on the exterior but of an hexagonal shape inside. It was surrounded by a moat and a wall, and some evidence is found near the Romanesque style portal.
