Archeological site of a mountain hamlet dating from the year 1000

For ten years, a team of archaeologists has been exploring the Planèze
South of the Plomb du Cantal, uncovering more than 800 archaeological sites and revealing a mountain inhabited since prehistoric times.
On the site of Rissergues exceptionally well preserved, the visitor enjoys
stroll through the terraced cultures and the remarkable dry stone walls.

He can enjoy a beautiful panorama on the high plateaus and the green pastures, up to the Aubrac plateau.
To consult: information panels on the life in our mountains a thousand years ago and on the work of the archaeologists.
The site is listed in the supplementary inventory of historical monuments.

Site open to the public from April to November with free access (depending on snow conditions).

Access: by car on a dirt track after Polverelles (800m) - on foot from Polverelles 4.5 km.
Attention: the track has gutters to evacuate rainwater quickly, it is not suitable for cars with a low chassis. Please drive at a walking pace! Parking space in front of the site.

Visits :
- Guided tours with a mountain guide in July and August
and August, exhibitions and animations.
