From the church overlooking the village of Dauzat sur Vodable, enjoy a beautiful view of the Couty valley. The valley opens up in the distance to the Limagne du Lembron and you can also see the Livradois mountains.
The basalt peak on which the church rests comes from the flows of Leiranoux, a volcano located to the west of the village. It was highlighted by erosion and its dominant position earned it the construction of a castle in 1217 by the Dauphins of Auvergne. This castle was destroyed in 1364 by the English.
