Museum Josette Bournet

Free visit. The museum presents, in a space of 125 m² of the works of the painter Josette Bournet (Vichy 1905 - Nice1962): portraits, marines, still lifes, religious works and ceramics.

Josette Bournet was a student of Georges Desvallières and Maurice Denis in the 1920s, at the Ateliers d'art sacré, and exhibited regularly at the Salons d'Automne, des Indépendants and des Tuileries. His work includes numerous portraits of his relatives and friends, including many artists of his time, in particular Athanase Apartis, Luc Benoist, Jean Follan, Matéo Hernández, Mela Muter, André Salmon, Charles Vildrac. In addition to the portraits, the work includes marines, painted in the region of Nice, Brittany and Normandy, still lifes and religious works.
The 2020-2021 exhibition is dedicated to the first years of the painter’s creation, between 1928 and 1938.
