An audio-guide and the voice of an archaeologist lead visitors through the ages and the vestiges unearthed in the ancient capital of the Vellavi people. Our exploration of the history of Saint-Paulien continues with a visit to the town.
Saint-Paulien has undergone many transformations down the centuries.
From the Gallic oppidum (fortified town) to the Gallo-Roman capital of the Velay region and the medieval town, the Pomarat Museum is a journey back in time through the eyes of the archaeologist helping us decipher the town’s vestiges.
The museum is like an excavation site, a place of treasures, maps and unearthed artefacts. Very ancient objects have been found in the earth here: a mosaic, amphoras, tools, stones and jewellery. They are the clues, and our investigations and labelling begin with them. In July and August, from Monday morning to Sunday lunchtime – last admission 1 hour before closing. Reservation required the rest of the year.
Periode d‘ouverture : Summer
From 01/07 to 31/08.
