Private mansion in the center of Clermont, accessible during certain Tourist Office guided tours.
In a building on the former Rue des Nobles, a ceremonial room dating entirely from the 17th century has been preserved. It was commissioned by Martial de Grandseigne, King's Councillor and Attorney General at the Cour des Aides.
The decorative program includes remarkable wood panelling, with a monumental fireplace, and a set of eight canvases painted by François Lombard in the 1640's. Among these are the four large allegorical or biblical scenes with a repentant Madeleine, Samson and Dalila, Thales and Dido on her pyre.
Access only on Tourist Office guided tours.
