At Savannes the river Chavanon flows through the middle of blocks of rock, bordered on both sides by imposing forests, not accessible by vehicle for over 5km of river. A biodiversity for wildlife and plants. (particulary otters).
Situated on the border of the Puy-de-Dôme, Creuse and Corrèze, the Chavanon valley (50 km) before its confluence with the Dordogne flows into gorges, constituting one of the wildest areas of Auvergne.
