Église Sainte-Marie-Madeleine

Free visit with leaflet. Possibility of free guided tour on reservation. Romanesque building of Burgundian type of the 11th-12th centuries (MH), with a sculpted portal of the 12th century on its eastern face.

Partage :

Its particularity and its richness reside in its very beautiful sculpted portal. The tympanum represents the adoration of the Magi with the Virgin Mary in majesty on her throne and the child Jesus on her knees, resting on a lion (Saint Mark) and a bull (Saint Luke), the whole surrounded by angels sounding the olifant, and a winged man (Saint Matthew). The lintel symbolizes the Original Sin and the meal at Simon the Leper's, with Mary Magdalene wiping Jesus' feet.
Built in the center of the village, the church is simple in its architecture: a single rectangular nave topped by a visible wooden frame, a choir covered by a barrel vault and an apse with a barrel vault.
