This circuit, mainly road, allows you to discover, over the water, the Fades and its surroundings. This pleasant self-drive reveals the beauty of the landscapes of the Sioule valley and of the Fades-Besserve lake as well as its historical riches.
The Sioule valley and its rich natural and built heritage are available to you (almost) effortlessly through various unmissable stages on a 54 km route!
Stage 1: the village of Miremont - Romanesque church, banks of the Sioulet, Back to the past museum (open from May to September).
You can stop at La Chazotte to discover the southern beach of Lac des Fades-Besserve.
Stage 2: the Charterhouse of Port-Sainte-Marie (Chapdes-Beaufort) - ruins of the medieval 13th century abbey and banks of the Sioule.
Stage 3: the dam and the Fades Viaduct (Les Ancizes-Comps / Sauret-Besserve) - the giant of Combrailles, the highest railway viaduct in France, put into service in 1909.
Stage 4: the Gour Saillant waterfall (Saint-Priest-des-Champs) - magnificent waterfall accessible by foot only (Round trip: 4 km)
Stage 5: Pont-du-Bouchet (Miremont) - viewpoint and access to the beach and its facilities
Stage 6: the Roche Grande belvedere (Miremont) - panorama over the Fades-Besserve lake.
Before returning to Miremont, a possible detour via Confolant to discover the 3rd beach on the lake.
