From the Lot Valley to the Allier Valley, you cross the oldest volcano in Europe. This demanding road route winds its way through gorges, volcanoes and plateaus. The towns and villages of Maurs, Aurillac, Mandailles and Allanche are essential stops to stock up on local specialities and to immerse yourself in the intimacy of its inhabitants. The climax of the route, the ascent of the Pas de Peyrol pass on the slopes of Puy Mary, will be the reward of this long weekend cycling trip.
