Charroux is a medieval village, formerly fortified. Come explore the paved alleys, half-timbered houses, church, wells… without forgetting the craftsmen, participating to the village's authenticity.
Charroux is registered among the most beautiful villages in France. Charroux owns a beautiful church from the 12th century, sculpted façades from the 15th and 18th centuries and a circular plan due to its past as a strong city. Charroux became a free town in 1245, and had a bourgeois population of rich merchants and intellectuals. The names of the streets evoke the active life of the time. The visit reveals the Eastern Gate, the Clock Gate and its belfry (13th-14th centuries), the 19th century covered market and the oldest house of the village (14th century).
