Notre Dame d’Orcival is one of the five most well-known Romanesque churches in Auvergne, built during the early 12th century. Its highly uniform construction has undergone very few modifications through the ages as its large dimensions have precluded extensions. But the interior décor has disappeared, along with its embellishments. Notre Dame has been listed as a Historic Monument since 1840. Don’t miss the statue of the Vierge en Majesté in the church chancel.
