Base de départ de Saint-Nicolas-des-Biefs pour les activités de pleine nature

On site, sports enthusiasts have access to changing rooms equipped with lockers, showers and WCs. There is also an outdoor bike-washing area. Accessible by reservation 72 hours in advance, the three departure bases are easy to reach and simple to use. Sports enthusiasts fill in a form on the Vichy Communauté website (in the outdoor activities section) and receive a code by SMS to access the changing rooms. The code is valid only on the day of booking.

La Verrerie is an emblematic site for outdoor activities.
Located close to the Pierre Châtel climbing site (1.2 km), the Saint-Nicolas-des-Biefs base is accessible to people with reduced mobility.
It is the starting point for a wide variety of routes and offers a complete range of outdoor activities:
- 5 mountain bike trails (n°51, 52, 53, 54, 93)
- 7 trail routes (n° 7, 11, 17, 26, 36, 38, 43, 55, 85)
- 2 trail orientation courses (green, red)
- 3 mountain bike orienteering courses (green, blue, red)
- 1 hiking trail (PR12) and GR3A passage

The La Verrerie site is part of the "Espace VTT Destination Grand Air", which is the largest FFC-certified mountain-biking area in France, including :

- Espace VTT Vichy Montagne Bourbonnaise,
- Espace VTT Massif des Bois Noirs,
- Espace VTT Ambert-Crêtes du Forez.
- Espace VTT Montagne et Plaine en Roannais

All courses are FFC-certified.

For people with reduced mobility, 2 joëlettes (including 1 electric) can be made available on request.

This new area comprises an entrance hall with information on the various courses, 1 men's changing room and 1 women's changing room, each with washbasin, shower, benches and lockers, and 2 WCs.
The changing rooms and toilets are accessible to people with reduced mobility.
