Bâtiment néoclassique inauguré en 1903 au cœur de la ville, le musée Bargoin propose des collections particulièrement riches et originales, d'archéologie locale et de textiles extra-européens.
Two museums were generously donated by two citizens of Clermont-Ferrand, and are named after them: Henri Lecoq and Jean-Baptiste Bargoin.
In the Bargoin Museum there are two departments: the archaeological department with collections of items found in the region dating back to prehistory, protohistory and the Gallo-Roman era: the plaques from the Sources des Roches are unique in Europe as well as in the Carpet and Textile Art department which has permanent and temporary displays of high-quality items.
