Chapel of the Bruyère

Partage :

At the beginning of the 20th c. Abbot Breton, a priest full of zeal and energy, devoted his time to the establishment of Notre-Dame-de-la-Bruyère pilgrimage, on the plateau facing the ruins of the castle of Miremont.

Thus, he started the construction of a chapel, in order to replace the church of Chalvignac, poorly located and insufficient. The construction was over in 1924. Until year 1965, Abbot Journiac, the last serving priest, celebrated Mass, baptisms and weddings in the chapel whereas funerals were held in the church.
